2 Chronicles 7:14 (AMP)
If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
We continue our devotion with Crave.
Crave – To have a strong or inward desire.
When we start seeking the Lord with all our heart, it will become difficult not to crave Him. We will not go without a day wanting to read His Word or spend time with Him. The priorities will start to change and the relationship with the Lord will come first and foremost in our lives.
How important is it for a parent to give the love to a child? Parents are the first line of defense in teaching. The children imitate everything they see their parents do; especially the love that is portrayed.
In society, we have many troubled individuals because they craved the love from either one or both parents. When the hugs, kisses, cuddling, and protection a child needs is not provided to them, they seek out in other areas to fulfill that craving that haunts them. A beautiful part of growing up and building the relationship with a parent and child is destroyed. The child starts to feel rejected by the parent and it begins a roller coaster of issues in their life. Troubles come in different forms. It could be as simple as not being able to give affection to their spouse or children, to binging into pornography, drugs, alcohol, being involved in gangs, crimes, and all other sorts of societal issues. Look around you, and the evidence is there.
One Example of brokenness is taken from the book, “Breaking FREE – Understanding Sexual Addiction & the Healing Power of Jesus” by Russell Willingham.
Sexual addiction is an obsessive-compulsive relationship with a person, object or experience for the purpose of sexual gratification. Whatever the type or amount of the behavior, it is damaging spiritually, physically or both. The addict has repeatedly tried to stop the behavior but at the same time is terrified of stopping. What drives the addiction is inadequate spirituality and deep unmet childhood needs that are valid but are mistakenly thought to be sexual needs. The behavior usually starts in pre-adolescence and tends to shape the orientation and personality of the individual. Genuine recovery is possible only with outside intervention and divine help.
The author follows up with this scripture:
Jeremiah 2:13 (AMP)
For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the Fountain of living waters, and they have hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns which cannot hold water.
Love – strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.
Love is such a small four letter word but it carries so much weight in relationships.
The Lord loves us and craves for us to have a relationship with Him. Just as the earthly parents are to love their children so does the Lord want to love us the same. But we have to want it to receive it. He will not push or demand it upon us.
Psalm 119:10 (AMP)
With my whole heart have I sought You, inquiring for and of You and yearning for You; Oh, let me not wander or step aside [either in ignorance or willfully] from Your commandments.
To be continued… Next week we’ll continue with Require of necessity My face.
