Isaiah 54:17 (AMP)
But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.
The Israelites just finished their battle with the Amorites, journeyed on, and they encamped in the plains of Moab. The king, Balak, and his people were terrified of the Israelites. They heard the battle that was won with the Amorites and knew of the multitude that they were. He knew the power they had and also knew that he wouldn’t be able to fight them in battle and win. Balak sends his leaders to talk with Balaam, and ask for him to come and curse Israel in hopes that he would have a chance to fight against them.
Balaam consults with the Lord. But the Lord tells him otherwise; Israel is a blessed nation. Balaam sends the leaders away with the message he was given from the Lord.
Balak wasn’t willing to give up that easy. He sends leaders that are more honorable than the first ones with the same message but this time he will promote Balaam with great honor and will do whatever he asks. But Balaam refuses stating that not even a house of silver and gold would make him go beyond the Word of God. But he will consult with God again and see if He has anything else to say. God tells Balaam to go with them but to do exactly what He tells him.
In the morning, Balaam saddles his donkey and goes with the leaders of Moab to meet with Balak.
Balak brings Balaam to several places on the hills to overlook the Israelites to curse them. But every time Balaam consults God, He gives a message of blessing to Balaam. Balak gets angrier and angrier; eventually sending Balaam back home.
When the Lord blesses a person, it doesn’t matter what is going on around us; God is just and will protect His children. There are those who will try all sorts of manipulation and trickeries when you may not even know about it. But the Lord Jesus protects us from all sides in life.
Mark 4:22 (AMP)
[Things are hidden temporarily only as a means to revelation.] For here is nothing hidden except to be revealed, nor is anything [temporarily] kept secret except in order that it may be made known.
In the story of Balak, we can see how he tried so hard to get Israel cursed. But all that was happening was that Balaam was blessing this nation over and over again. Israel was not going to be powerless but more powerful.
God knows all and will judge those accordingly. At times, He will reveal to us those who are trying to come against us. This is not to get revenge but to be careful, watchful, and obedient to what the Lord wants us to do.
Matthew 7:12 (AMP)
So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets.
