Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice. – Baruch Spinoza
Can we be in a state of peace amidst the trial and tribulation in life? Can we be focused on the Heavenly business even if we’re at war? Can we be so prayerful that the craziness that surrounds us doesn’t affect us?
The bible says a few things that should make us shout for how God works.
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
God promises that whatever, whomever comes against us contrary to God’s Word, shall not be fulfilled. God will protect us even if we think all is falling apart within and around us. Now, what we need to understand is that people will form “things against us.” That’s unpreventable, but the Lord promises that whatever rises against us will fail.
When our mind is set on doing for others and helping those who are less fortunate than us, we take the focus off ourselves and allow the Lord to help us through our suffering and pour out with compassion and love for others.
Isaiah 26:3 (AMP)
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.
John 16:33 (AMP)
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
Keep fighting the good fight because there’s a reward to be received at the end of the journey.
