Life is a series of collisions with the future; it is not the sum of what we have been, but what we yearn to be.
Jose Ortega y Gasset
Mr Gasset expresses life as a series of collisions with the future. Just think about it! Every step we take, will lead us into a future timeframe. As we think back to the past, we can see a collection of memories that comprises of life experiences; good or bad. These experiences have molded a person’s current self being.
Mr. Gasset states it appropriately; “it is not the sum of what we have been.” The past has a part in our future and how our character has been formed, but it’s not the complete mixture or molding to set us up for our future. The present allows us at any time to change that course. God has given us the power of choice to change our destiny. If we’re not walking in the Will of God, He allows us at any time to change that course back and follow Him.
Gasset says, “but what we yearn to be.” What is our yearning to be for our future? Is that yearning in alignment with what God desires for us?
God’s desire for us may not be a simple road to follow, but it will be the best road to follow
God’s desire for us may not be what we envisioned for ourselves, but He will give us the best
God’s desire for us may not be glorious, but it will honor and glorify Him in every aspect
God’s desire for us may not be where we wanted to travel, but He will give us the best and straight path
Let’s check our hearts and align ourselves with what God has planned for us. This may turn your life around to the opposite direction to where you were headed. But that’s okay, because if He’s ordained it to be so, all will work out for you and for everyone who will be touched by you.
