Hebrews 9:17 (AMP)
For a will and testament is valid and takes effect only at death, since it has no force or legal power as long as the one who made it is alive.
A will or testament is a legal declaration by which a person, the testator, names one or more persons to manage his/her estate and provides for the transfer of his/her property at death.
As people get older in life, most often than not, they decide to make a type of Will. This will contain all the material assets (property, money, possession, etc.) he/she has accumulated throughout their lifetime.
They have a choice to select certain individuals to receive an inheritance after his/her death. The inheritance cannot be dispersed until the person is deceased.
The one getting the inheritance continues to go through life as normal until the deceased is gone. Once that happens, the Last Will and Testament takes full affect and a plan is executed.
Jesus came to earth and only spent 33 years walking the lands in the Middle East. He taught, preached, healed, and converted people to a new way of life. The same as today when we pick up the bible, the Holy Spirit will guide us and we start to learn a new way. If we allow it, our old ways perish and we become a new creature in Christ. We only forget them if we stop studying the Word and start slipping into our old ways again. When we follow what the Word says, we learn God’s ways. That teaching is then taught to others for their own salvation. What Jesus taught so many years ago, is still in effect today.
We can say the same of our earthly parents and people who instill Godly morals into us. It becomes a lifetime teaching that long after their death, we continue to carry them and pass it onto future generations. Only when we decide to follow another path, do we jeopardize those teachings.
Jesus left a wonderful inheritance. It wasn’t for specific people or a cause like we humans leave. It was for EVERY one of us. For those who say, “yes”, to the Lord.
Just as we sign paperwork and accept the inheritance someone has left us. We, too, need to come to accept Christ and say, “yes”, before we can receive the gift.
When you read Hebrews 9, you will read the process of the remission of sins. The old ways of sacrificing of animals in order to rid of the sins in our lives. But when Jesus died on the Cross, He became the Lamb that shed the blood for all of us. No more sacrificing a perfect animal. Jesus became that perfect sacrifice, the negotiator, mediator for His people.
We receive an eternal inheritance that will outlast any inheritance we will receive from our earthly beings.
As we celebrate Christmas and ponder at the birth of Jesus, it’s also beneficial to think about what He went through in such a short period of time and the lifetime affects that has shaken the world.
Remember that we’re not here for our own pleasures. We are here to pass on an inheritance to EVERYONE that the Lord allows us to touch on a daily basis. Ask the Lord for 2011, to give you a fresh anointing. Get deeper in the Word to allow you to pass on the Good News to others.
Time is of essence. Let’s make an extra effort and try to bring as much souls to the Lord as never before. Don’t live a mediocre life! Get on the path that the Lord has planned for you and start living the life that was intended just for you. Stop looking around and worrying what others may think. The Lord has called you for such time as this. People may not understand what the Lord is having you go through, but know that when you’re following His ways, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Let’s make a true impact for Him and receive the wonderful inheritance He has left for us to carry through.
May the Lord enrich you with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. May He soar you high into the depths of the Word. May you unfold the mysteries and secrets that only the Holy Spirit can bring to revelation. That’s when you will know that He has you in the right place at the right time.
