Healing At It’s Own Time – Part I

Good Day,

As I was reading John 11, my focus was on Lazarus and his miracle.   But as I read the passage again, the Holy Spirit directed me to Mary Magdalene.

Who was Mary Magdalene and what miracle did Jesus perform in her life?  As you know, there is so much controversy today regarding her life and the possibility of her being His wife and having His children.  But we all know that this is another attack from the enemy trying to discredit all that our Lord is.  If you have entertained the possibility of it being true, I highly recommend you to read the Bible and study what it says.  After you’re done, your confusion will be transformed to belief and the truth.

Jesus came to Earth for one purpose; a Redeemer for our fallen world.  Not to be part of the pro-creation of humanity, but to save us from all unrighteousness, and to give us a pathway into eternity beyond this world.

Before Mary became a follower of Jesus, she had many issues.

Luke 7:37 (AMP)
And behold, a woman of the town who was an especially wicked sinner, when she learned that He was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment (perfume).

She was a wicked sinner…

Luke 8:2 (AMP)
And also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had been expelled…

She was a demon possessed woman…

She was considered an outcast by society’s standards.   But she didn’t let that hold her back from coming forward to Jesus as He was surrounded by His disciples and the Pharisee.  She came into their room and proceeded to anoint Jesus in her own special way.

There’s times in life that we need to look within ourselves and say, “I don’t care what any one else thinks.  I need to step out and do what is right”, regardless of your ugly past.  Don’t let the enemy hold you back from your present and future because of a mistake you made in the past.  The past cannot be changed; you can only change the present that will change your future.  So, why do we hold on and cradle that thing that hounds us for years?  We nurture it and care for it like a child.  Not realizing that we’re hurting our future greatness.

Don’t look any where else but forward to Jesus.  No matter what stage you are in life, people are ALWAYS going to talk about you; that’s just the plain reality.  We need to learn to use those comments and fuel them for positive things in life.

When we’re driving a car on a full tank of gas, we can drive for hours before refueling again; there’s power within that tank.  But as we get closer to empty, we know we need to look for a gas station to re-fuel or we’ll be stranded.  Likewise, we need to be on a “full tank of gas” regardless of any situation.  If we allow ourselves to get empty, we’ll be stranded just as a car will.  Gasoline allows a car to be utilized to its’ full potential; such as the Word of God gives life to our soul.

Don’t be caught up on how things should be when coming to the Lord.  Every one of us spends time with Jesus in our own unique way.  Seek out what works best for you asking the Lord for guidance.  In whatever you do, find a starting point and take it from there.

When Mary was done anointing Jesus, He forgave and blessed her.  She sinned no more and instantly became one of His followers.

  • Mary Magdalene became a disciple – she, among others, ministered to and provided for Him.  They supported Jesus from their own property and belongings (Luke 8:1-3)

  • She was among the close friends of Jesus (John 11:5)
  • She was at the Cross looking on from a distance (Matt. 27:55-56)
  • Mary Magdalene along with Mary, Jesus’ mother, were the first to be present at Jesus’ tomb (Matt. 28:1)

  • Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene (Mark 16:9)

We have to take Mary’s example and do the same.  Remember, Jesus didn’t dine with the best in society; He dined with the worst.  Those who decided to follow had the privilege to minister with Him.  We have an extraordinary privilege because during His life, Jesus was limited physically.  But now, He can reach all of us at the same time spiritually.

Mary became a very important icon in Jesus’ ministry on Earth.  She was a woman of great security of herself.  She was among the first of the women to be at the tomb.  She wasn’t afraid of the Romans, the Jews, or even dying for the great cause Jesus came for.  She was determined and focused on the task at hand.

Jesus knew that He had an obedient follower among His group.  He knew He could rely on her to send the message back to the disciples that He was not dead and had risen.  When the disciples doubted, she believed.

So, when you think you’re too messed up to come to Jesus, think again and look at Mary Magdalene.  Jesus has seen it all; there’s no surprise for Him.

She could have stayed as a wicked, demonic possessed woman acting crazy receiving eternal death.  But she decided to give it a shot and take a look at what eternal life was all about.

Let’s not allow the devil to steal and stamp us with eternal death, let’s be marked by the stamp of eternal life and walk in victory!
